Always a good experience

I've been with Consumer Cellular for a few years now. Just upgraded to the iPhone 15 this time. The process was as smooth as my previous phone upgrades, shipping was free and arrived in about 4 days. Their service has been consistent for me.

Good value, AARP discount helped

I was looking for a new plan and saw Consumer Cellular offered an AARP discount, which saved me a bit on the Unlimited Talk and Text plan. Got the Samsung Galaxy A15 too. Shipping was quick and the phone works fine. It felt like a good deal overall for what I needed, no complaints.

Easy switch, decent phone

Switched over to Consumer Cellular from another provider because my friend told me about it. Got the Motorola Moto G Power, wasn't too expensive. Setting it up was pretty easy, just popped in the SIM card. Took about 5 days for the phone to get here. Everything's been working well for calls and texts. The data plan I picked, the 5GB one, seems to be enough for what I do. It was all a pretty simple process, which I liked.

Detailed review of my switch

I finally decided to move my service to Consumer Cellular after seeing their plans. I purchased the Unlimited Talk and Text plan with the 10GB data option and opted for the iPhone SE. The ordering process on their website was straightforward and I appreciated the free shipping on the phone. It arrived in 6 business days, which was reasonable. Porting my old number was surprisingly easy; I followed the online instructions and it went through without a hitch. I had one question about setting up the voicemail, so I called customer service. The representative was polite and helped me resolve it quickly. The iPhone SE itself is a solid device for my needs, good call quality and the battery life is decent. The coverage in my area (suburban Ohio) has been excellent, no dropped calls. I also bought a wall charger and a screen protector, and both were good quality. Overall, a positive experience from start to finish, felt like a good choice for reliable service.

Has anyone used their own phone with Consumer Cellular? My old iPhone 12 is still chugging along and I don't wanna buy a new one.

Totally, I brought my old Samsung over. Just make sure it's unlocked. You'll need to get a new SIM card from them though.

Yep, you can use your own phone. Just check their website to make sure it's compatible, but most unlocked phones work fine. Saved me a bunch not having to buy a new device.

Thinking of switching over, but wondering about the AARP discount. How does that work, like do you just show your card or what?

C Carly 3 months ago
Yeah, I just gave them my AARP number when I signed up online. Pretty straightforward, the discount automatically showed up on my bill.

They actually verify it through AARP directly, I think you just enter your membership number during signup or call them after. You get 5% off your monthly service which is pretty nice.
